Athlete Development

Athlete Development is critical to the future of the sport by recognizing and training developing skaters. The Program Development Committee started regional training camps in 1995. These camps are designed to give grass-roots education to developing skaters and coaches.

Other development programs include:

  • Pairs and Dance Partner search and auditions
  • Training and Nutrition
  • Resources and Information
  • Athlete Sponsorship
  • Basic Skills

The Basic Skills program offers people of all ages the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of ice skating from professionally trained instructors. Consisting of eight different curriculums, the Basic Skills program is designed to instruct proper technique to all levels of skaters with individual programs designed for pre-school, basic skills, hockey, adult, free skate, dance, synchronized team skating and choreography. Danny Tate, Director of Pelham Skating School leads the Basic Skills program.
