About Us

The Birmingham Figure Skating Club (BFSC), founded in 1961, is a member club of the U.S. Figure Skating Association (USFSA), which is the governing body of figure skating in the United States. BFSC is a non-profit organization, dedicated to promoting amateur figure skating in the Birmingham area.

BFSC's Goals

  • Promote figure skating in Birmingham and the surrounding areas
  • Encourage the instruction, practice and advancement of its members in all disciplines of figure skating
  • Provide support for skating members participating in USFSA competitions
  • Create opportunities for local skaters to showcase their talents
  • Provide educational opportunities related to skating for skaters, coaches and other members
  • Provide the necessary path for local skaters who aspire to National, International, and Olympic competition
  • Encourage and cultivate a spirit of fraternal feeling among its skating members
  • Carry out the general policies and objectives of the USFSA

Activities of BFSC

BFSC activities range from USFSA testing and competitions to Club Night activities for fellowship and fun. The club also provides opportunities to showcase the skating talents of its members through recitals, exhibitions and shows.

As a non-profit organization, funding of BFSC is through membership fees and fund raising activities. The money is dispersed to pay for test sessions, competition, coach’s fees, judge’s expenses, recital expenses, skating seminars and other activities of the club.
